Disney is currently riding a wave of revisiting their properties and remaking them for younger audiences. After live-action remakes like Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast, Disney continues to look back into its history. Now, it’s time for our favorite spaghetti-slurping dogs to return. Find out what we know about The Lady and the Tramp cast!

According to Collider, Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson is now in final talks to voice Lady. She’ll join The Leftovers star Justin Theroux, who will voice the co-lead, Tramp. The voice cast also includes Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong, Dope’s Kiersey Clemons, and Extras’ Ashley Jensen. Charlie Bean, who helmed The Lego Ninjago Movie, will direct, from a script by Andrew Bujalski.

What to Expect from the Lady and the Tramp cast

Disney said the remake will stay true to the 1955 classic. It is, of course, best known for its spaghetti-slurping scene. The remake will follow the adventures of two dogs, Lady and Tramp, as they fall in love. Instead of plain CGI, the remake will mix different styles. Disney announced it’ll follow the Jungle Book trend as a live-action and CGI hybrid. This will be the case with a few upcoming releases, including Tim Burton’s Dumbo.

Disney’s New Venture

Disney has several live-action lined up for the next few years, but something sets The Lady and the Tramp apart. This film will come out as exclusive content for the company’s own streaming platform. Disney said the still-unnamed streaming service would release four to six original movies a year.

Last year, the company announced the streaming platform’s first show. Still unnamed, it’ll be a new Star Wars live-action series. Jon Favreau, Disney’s lucky charm, will act as showrunner. In the past, Favreau has helped build some of Disney’s biggest properties. The company is clearly putting its best talents to work on this upcoming venture.

The Disney streaming service will be released in late 2019. However, we still don’t know when we’ll get the Lady and the Tramp remake. Since production is currently focused on casting voice talent, it’s safe to assume it can be a while.
